Melaka

Melaka - World Heritage City. Its very cute and beautiful around Melaka...it was just a one day stop for us on our way to the Tioman Islands.

They say there only a couple of things you need to do in Melaka, one is go on one of these tri-shaws and the other is to eat cendol.

Well, these tri-shaws are too much fun! Firstly you get pealed around the city while the speakers around you blear music from oldies to rock to trance to heavy metal...its just hilarious! All these foreigners riding around with musc blearing from the tri-shaws!

This is the eye-sore of Melaka- the locals hate it. Its a tower you can go up and look out over the whole of Melaka, it is however, really ugly!

Kyle and I at the Melaka Tree - this tree is over 300 years old!

The replica of a Portuguese boat.

Water wheel on the river.

Stadhuys - In other words, City House. This place was colonized by the Dutch and everything still very much reflects that.

Laughing - singing "tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree".

The front of the tri-shaw! You'll see in the video I have uploaded at the end the driver and exactly how everything looks and works!

Old English Airplane at the Melaka Tree.

Ruins...

Dude playing a flute! He was so funny, when he finished playing a song, he'd give himself a HUGE round of applause!

Old Chevy at one of the Museums.

Some of the other tri-shaws...

They really go out of their way to decorate them.

 Heh heh heh...

Pink butterfly!

Sitting along the river at a cafe where we had to try cendol.

 Windmill - Dutch influence.

Chinatown - Jonker Walk

Yip, are quite close to Borneo, but we haven't seen any Orang-Utans.

Melaka River

This is a statue of Mr. Malaysia. He represents body building in Asia!

Unesco World Heritage Site.

This is cendol. It is a coconut and brown sugar iced desert with red beans and coconut jelly. Absolutely delicious! This one was home made...the lady was so nice, she promised it was going to be divine!

Here is a video of being on the tri-shaw!

Kuala Lumpur at night...

Walking the streets of KL at night, was pretty amazing. Everything is lit up, the streets are alive with people and music and atmosphere.

Some of the huildings in KL, this is the cultural communications centre.

Incredible, the lights change colour.

The road was blocked off because they had Ramadan celebrations on.

Superb!

Green!

The clock tower. The had a huge screen had placed in a field where people can go and sit in a park and watch the Olympics.

Palm trees in the middle of the city!

Copper domes - looks like a mosque.

They are very patriotic with their flags everywhere.

I love KL - true story!

The streets of KL

The KL Tower - you can go up and get a view of the entire city from up there.

Its very very very very tall...

Bars, clubs, and restaurants line the streets.

The Patronas Towers at night. They are absolutely spectacular.

The glass and the metal look so good when they are lit up.

Me at the towers!

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur - what an awesome city! We absolutely loved it. The vibe, the energy, the different cultures and the incredible buildings. We missioned exceptionally hard through Kuala Lumpur, so much so that our feet, hips, backs, knees and whatever else hurt!

This is our room at the Lok Ann Guesthouse. We stayed smack in the middle of Chinatown. Yes, the mess on the bed is mine...

Chinatown, absolute chaos as you can see.

At the KLCC Mall in the Patronas Towers. Wall to wall with CK, Prada, Gucci, Jimmy Choo etc etc

The Patronas Towers...they are the ones from the movie Entrapment with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery.

Me in front of the towers. They are pretty spectacular.

Looking at the towers from afar.

On the other side of the towers they have a water park!

The Towers within the city.

They have these huge fountains and at night they have a water show with lights and all sorts.

From the other side of the Towers looking into the city

Walking to the Pavilion for dinner.

The Pavilion. KL is just covered with suave malls and places, its quite different to other major cities we've seen. The subway and public transport runs so smoothly and is a pleasure to use.

Walking back to the subway.

 Traditional dancing.

Beautiful temple, with a Guinness and Tiger Beer advertisement outside...mmmmmmmmm don't know if that's the correct place for advertising.

Were we stayed, Petaling Street, Chinatown.

Walking through Chinatown.

Whatever your heart desires you'll find it there.

And you will find it for next to nothing!

Genuine genuine fakes!

Watches, belts, jewels, clothes, food, thingy ma-bobs, and whatcha ma-call-its in every direction.

Clearly The Dark Knight Rises has had some impact on the Batman appendage sales.

Endless amounts of things...

T-shirts saying I LOVE KL in every way possible.

Ice Watches.

Delicious ice cold fruit.
