Petang National Park & Batu Ferringhi

Today we missioned to the Petang National Park by public bus, which took an hour and cost R9.00 (what a pleasure). We then signed in at the park where they told us we could either walk through the reserve / forest or go by speed boat. Being the way I am, I insisted on walking. Anyway, this gentle walk through the forest turned out to be an enormous jungle trek. Me, dressed in flip flops and a dress and Kyle in boardshorts and flip flops. Anyway, an hour and a half later after fighting our way through the jungles of Malaysia we finally made it to Monkey Beach...

This is the start of our little hike...oh look, ANOTHER floating fishing village in South East Asia, fancy that.

Walking along the edge of the beach before the going got tough! But the tough got going...thank goodness!

This should have been our first sign, we should have stopped there and enjoyed the sunshine and sea!

This is as you approach the University of Marine Studies in Malaysia. How cool - I could think of worse places to live.

The beautiful beaches of Malaysia.

Looking across the bay to the public beach, Batu Ferringhi.

There were quite a few monkeys along the way. You should have seen the size of its fangs...bloody scary if you ask me. I wouldn't go near it, rabies injections and all.

There was a baboon along the way as well...

An attempt at me being creative. This camera of mine is SUPERB. It has been through hell and back, and still it keeps going strong!

This was the good path, where we could actually walk and we didn't have to slide or scramble or haul ourselves over something.

Arriving on Monkey Beach...sort of made the mission worth it.

So beautiful...blue seas, white sands....

.....and of course coconut trees...

So we decided to lie on the beach for a while! And contemplate life...

We did some more contemplating...I think mostly about the hike back!

It was so beautiful.

Leaving the beach...looks like a postcard hey?????

And after all our contemplating...we decided to catch a boat back, which took about 4 minutes...we should have caught one there!

Then we jumped back on the public bus, and we went to Batu Ferringhi to chill on the beach for a while...This is the public beach...where tourists go normally...they do the usual things... jet-ski's, para-sailing, tubing etc etc

So we lay on the beach for a while...I even managed a bit of sunburn. Day  successful / mission complete, time for the long ride back to the hotel...
