Laos Culture Show

The Laos Cultural Dancing and Dinner was something quite special. You always see the costumes and things  in pictures, but when you see the textiles and colours and masks and props, its something completely different.

Laos also makes it own beer called BeerLaos - Its actually really good and the Laos people are very proud of it!

Another vid  of one of the dances

The stage its performed on.

The dinner we got. Traditional Laos food: It consisted of:
1) Fried eggs - boiled eggs fried in batter!
2)Veggies - Beans, carrots and some other veg i don't know what it is and a salsa type sauce.
3) Spicy pork curry with gem squash and beans
4) Fried chicken pieces
5) Spicy fish wrapped in banana leaves - totally delish!
6) Mince with fried onions, ginger, mint and coriander served with fresh cucumber and rocket type lettuce
7) Spring rolls and sweet chilli sauce

Desert consisted of orange melon, papaya and dragon fruit. Dragon fruit is quite tasty, its sweet has a texture like a melon with crunchy black seeds all in it. Its very nice actually!

Some more of the dancing.

Everything seems like its set in slow - mo.

View from the top of the stairs onto the stage. We got the best seats in the house - right in front to the right!

The orchestra consisting of xylophones, a drum and some other weird instrument that makes a high pitched sound!

They gave us flowers for around our necks and a cotton bracelet which symbolises good luck.

We had a great time! And as we walked out the thunder and lightening was upon us and we had to walk home in the rain! Which was a total pleasure because of the deathly heat!
