Phonsovan - Laos

Phonsovan is the nearest town to the Plain of Jars. The Plain of Jars are huge sandstone jars, some of them are up to 6 tons in weight, and no one knows how they got there.
After a pretty horrendous 7 hour trip in a minibus through the most hectic rain on dodgy, winding mountain roads,it was a relief to finally arrive at the "Nice Guesthouse" - it really is nice.

The reception area.

As we checked in, we booked our tour - 4.

They have bomb shells and rockets everywhere in this town!

Walking through the gates to our room.

Very very nice...

Outside our room - cute courtyard.

Inside the room!

Phonsovan street - high up in the mountains.

I never thought i'd say this, but its really cold here! Its actually quite nice for a change.

We asked the guy at reception if there is a market or store we can buy something to eat - he told us to walk down this road...

Our room - No. 3

Sitting in the courtyard.

The street that lead to the market / store! Well, let me tell you, this is not what I had in mind! It was a full on market / festival / carnival or something.

Hundreds of shoes.

Hundreds of belts.

Train, Ferris Wheel and Play House - absolutely amazing! This all happens in a place that is seriously in the middle of nowhere.

Throwing darts at balloons to win prizes!
NB - NOTE THAT I HAVE A JERSEY ON!!!

Kyle was better at dart throwing than I was!

There it is and the prizes are below.

Karaoke bar...maybe tomorrow night...before we catch a bus at 2:30am to Vietnam!

Long lines of balloon / dart throwing.

More market things.

15000Kip = R15.00 = VERY CHEAP

Rows of stuff everywhere.

Dinner! Tofu, sausage, chicken, pork, water buffalo, prawns, crab...all sorts of yummy things as well as stir fried rice and noodles.

Little Nemo skewers! So funny!

The spread...really delish!
