Luang Prabang Morning Market

The morning market is where all the locals and restaurants shop for fresh produce. Gorgeous fresh things everywhere!

My first souvenir: Bracelet and necklace from "Make bracelets not war" who made the jewelry out of bombs that wrecked their village. All proceeds go back to the village. Very, very, very special things!

Picture of the stuff they make.

Lovely Veg, its times like this I wish I had a fridge or could cook.

Fresh fruit....a little different from Fruit and Veg and Woolies hey?

More greens and things. Spring onions, limes, cabbage, bay leaves, leeks, cucumber....yummy...

Eggs, Tomatoes, pineapples, parsley, coriander...(Mum I think you'd have a ball here!)

Rice Rice Rice Rice Rice...everywhere, with every meal all different colours, flavours, varieties...and egg fried rice of course, that's why the eggs are next to the rice!!!!!

Drying bay leaves to make some Tom Yum Soup or a potent Laos curry!

She sells flowers that you can buy to place as offerings at the shrines or temples.

Mixed spices...

More spices, garlic, dried chillies, and a bunch of other things...

All the yummy greens that go into the soups and into Laap (Laos food) and curries and veggies fried in oyster sauce...delish!

Endless varieties of all sorts. Sweet potatoes are eaten a lot here too. They are cooked at all the street vendors on an open fire.

Pick your spice. They look pretty dangerous!

Of course they have to throw in some traditional bags and embroidery and all sorts! Where would you put all your shopping otherwise!

Traditional Laos scarves, so beautiful and soft and colourful. However its so hot, when you think of putting a scarf on you actually get a bit nauseous!

What a cute bag! Its an owl!!!

What a cute little bubba. They are all so cute and friendly!

Aubergines are massive here! They have the on the menus at most places. They look different to ours though, they are sort of like purple cucumbers.

Dragon fruit - white inside with black seeds. Tasty!

Noodles noodles noodles...if its not rice, its noodles!

Like I said Rice Rice Rice...no rice then its noodles - its almost like "same same - but different"!!!

Black rice...mmmmmmm...never tried it!

The market street.
